![]() If you're wondering what those weird phrases people in chat seem to be spamming are, it's probably an emote from one of the above mentioned 3rd party emote services. What even is this?ħTV, BetterTTV, and FrankerFaceZ, more commonly stylized as 7TV, BTTV, and FFZ, are 3rd party emote services for Twitch chat, which aim to enhance a viewer's chatting experience on Twitch by allowing for more emotes to be used in chat, free of charge. You should consider going to 7TV's website and downloading their browser add-on from there. To open the developers console, you have to clock on the button on the top left, go to Window -> Toggle Content Developer Tools or simply push F12.This guide is slightly deprecated as V3 of 7TV's browser add-on now supports 7TV, BetterTTV, and FrankerFaceZ emotes out of the box, and has some great quality of life chat features that are currently not found in any other emote add-on. This set up, you can now turn to your Twitch Desktop App. Then run gulp watch within the same directory als before. If you are not familiar with git and you want to get into coding i highly recommend learing this tool.Īfter downloading/cloning the github directory onto your pc, you have to install Node (a Java-script based webserver hosting program, you can read more about it here),Īfter Node is installed (you can check it with running npm version in your command line application) you have to run npm install in the cloned github folder.ĭone with that you have to get the tool gulp. So at first we have to get the BetterTTV dev version on your pc. So, if u'r ready to waste some time: Lets get starting! At that state i'd recommend using the BetterTTV browser extension. So unless u aren't running ur computer with Twitch App open, this could be quite some wasted time just for some emotes. ![]() So pls if u are not aware of some basic programming or unix things, you might not understand the way to set this up.Īnother thing is that this has to be set up on every startup of the Twitch Desktop App itself. So I've encountered a way to use BetterTTV Emotes in Twitch Desktop App.But to lower all of your expectations: this is a very geeky thing. Thanks to /u/iTruthful and Conceptional for the art!
